Vic Reeves was the character Jim Moir played in his eponymously titled BIG NIGHT OUT – a parody variety show which befuddled, delighted and obsessed all who watched it for the two glorious series, before he went on to even bigger mainstream attention with Shooting Stars.
But last night, in Bradford, after pulling his legendary Vic Reeves pose, Jim spoke about his love for art – how he’d been doing in “since he was born”, and how BIG NIGHT OUT was really just an art project in it’s own right. He seemed genuinely moved and delighted to be showing his work – NEO FAUNA – at Cartwright Hall in Bradford. There was a great turnout, including an appearance from Marc Riley (The Fall, Radio 6), and the work is on display at Cartwright Hall until the 31st August.
Thirty minutes of deep-diving on Youtube this morning has confirmed I didn’t mis-remember an episode of Big Night Out where there was a Bradford Bounces Back ball on the “end of the stick”.
I should get out more.
