ASYMMETRIC WILLOW BASKET #1

Handwoven willow basket made in West Yorkshire by basket maker Joe Gregory.

Each basket takes several hours to weave by hand using traditional techniques and natural willow varieties. This one combines Steamed Black Maul and Brittany Green willow with a hazel handle, creating a subtle shift in colour through the weave.

The asymmetric form gives the basket a slightly sculptural feel while remaining completely practical. Ideal for fruit, vegetables, yarn, magazines or general household storage.

Joe began weaving in 2004 while recovering from serious illness. What started as a hobby became a craft and then a profession. Today she teaches willow weaving across the UK while continuing to make pieces from her studio in West Yorkshire.

Each basket is made individually and no two are identical.
