More than 100 years ago, Harry Brearley invented stainless steel in Sheffield. What followed was a century of metalworking excellence as the city supplied the world with everything from razor blades and pocket knives to teaspoons and tableware.
Little Sheffield was the part of the city most closely associated with knife making. It’s where this knife begins its journey and where the final marks are added by our Ben before it leaves the city.
Originally developed for the British Army in the early 1900s, this clasp knife pattern earned its reputation through decades of practical service and hard use. Along the way, almost everything unnecessary disappeared.
What’s left is a tool that remains remarkably difficult to improve upon.
WHY WE BUILT IT
Because not everything needs reinventing.
This knife has spent generations opening tins, cutting string, tightening screws and solving small problems. The materials, shape and function have been refined over decades until there’s very little left to remove.
We liked that.
