MORE DETAILS
These sardines are packed in locally sourced organic extra virgin olive oil that complements the rich flavour of the fish without overpowering it. Every tin is prepared by hand by a small team working in one of Portugal’s most distinctive modern canneries, where low production runs and careful handling remain central to the process.
The name Papa Anzóis comes from a rock formation marked on local fishermen’s charts along the Algarve coast. Translated literally, it means “the rock that eats fish hooks” – a notoriously difficult spot where fish gather in abundance.
WHY WE STOCK THEM
Papa Anzóis represents everything we look for in tinned fish: proper provenance, traditional methods and genuine attention to detail. Small-scale production, hand preparation and exceptional ingredients make these some of the finest sardines we’ve come across.
